Principal Investigator

Paul J. Steinhardt

Albert Einstein Professor in Science at Princeton University, with appointments in both the Department of Physics and the Department of Astrophysical Sciences. He is one of the principal architects of inflationary cosmology and has more recently played a leading role in the development of bouncing and cyclic models of the universe. He has also made influential contributions to the study of quintessence—models in which dark energy evolves with time—and to novel theories of dark matter, including self-interacting dark matter.

Associates

Anna I. Rosenzweig

Leader in computational research at the intersection of cosmology and general relativity. In academia, she has pursued novel theories of the early universe. At NVIDIA, she works with universities and federal labs to accelerate discovery through AI and HPC tools.

Frans Pretorius

Professor of Physics at Princeton University. His research focus is general relativity. He uses numerical solution methods to study the dynamical strong-field regime of the theory, including gravitational-wave sources, black holes, and cosmological singularities.

David Garfinkle

Professor of Physics at Oakland University. His research in numerical relativity includes the use of computer simulations to study the properties of singularities, critical gravitational collapse, cosmic censorship, and the evolution of inhomogeneities in the early universe.
